Amarillo Habitat for Humanity, Inc., an affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International, is a non-profit organized to perform the essential purpose of building and selling to low-income families decent housing in a decent neighborhood community.

Amarillo Habitat for Humanity, an affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International, is a non-profit, ecumenical, Christian organization dedicated to the elimination of substandard housing in Amarillo (Potter & Randall Counties).  Our commitment is to perform the essential community service of building and selling affordable housing to low-income families.  We also educate and assist our partner families with the responsibilities of home ownership and maintenance.

Our homes are sold on a 20-30 year mortgage at no interest and no profit to Amarillo Habitat for Humanity.  Qualifying families have a need for housing, the ability to pay a mortgage, and are willing to partner with Habitat by putting in a minimum of 500 hours of sweat equity building their house and the houses of other partner families.  Their mortgage payments go back into Amarillo HFH's building funds to construct more houses and fulfill more dreams of homeownership.  Funds, building materials, and labor are donated by individuals, churches, corporations, and other organizations.

Habitat for Humanity International's Mission:
Habitat for Humanity works in partnership with God and people everywhere, from all walks of life, to develop communities with people in need by building and renovating houses so that there are decent houses in decent communities in which every person can experience God's love and can live and grow into all that God intends.

Our Ultimate Goal:
The ultimate goal of Habitat for Humanity is to eliminate poverty housing and homelessness from the face of the earth by building adequate and basic housing.  Furthermore, all of our words and actions are for the ultimate purpose of putting shelter on the hearts and minds of people in such a powerul way that poverty housing and homelessness become socially, politically and religiously unacceptable in our nation and world.

Official Purpose of Habitat for Humanity:
The official purposes of Habitat for Humanity are to partner with specific programs in habitat development globally, by constructing modes but adequate housing, and to associate with other organziations functioning with purposes consistent with those of Habitat, as stated in the Articles of Incorporation, to witness the Gospel of Jesus Christ throughout the world:
•  By working in cooperation with God's people in need to create a better habitat in which to work and live
•  By working in cooperation with other agencies which have a kindred purpose
•  By exemplifying the Gospel of Jesus Christ through loving acts and the spoken and written word
•  By enabling an expanding number of persons from all walks of life to participate in this ministry
